FAQs, directions, and more on what you need to know for the morning of ProductCamp!

Where is ProductCamp?

Tepper Building - Carnegie Mellon University

Pittsburgh, PA 15213

Where should I check-in?

Picture
Check-in and registration is mandatory for this event. Check-in will be located next to Simmons Auditorium on the Forbes Avenue side of the building, Level 1 entrance.

If you enter at Forbes Avenue (sidewalk cut-in at Level 1 Entrance):
You will be at the registration table set up on the exterior of the auditorium. Signage will be on the first two floors of the building to guide you.

If you enter from the 2nd floor quad entrance (larger open entrance at front of the building):
Please proceed left and around the refreshment stands down the stairs OR from the quad entrance straight ahead down the elevator to the first floor.

What's a pre-submitted session?

So you've pre-submitted a session on our site here.  Great! Now what?

1. When you arrive at the start of ProductCamp, your pre-submitted session will already be displayed in the voting area.
2. Each attendee will have the opportunity to vote for their top 3 sessions.
3. After the first morning keynote, we will announce which sessions have been chosen by the attendees and are a part of this year's schedule. (The schedule is not finalized until the morning of PCamp, that's why it's an unconference!)
4. If your session is chosen you should come to the "Speaker Session Area" so we can let you know which room your session will be held in!

Who are the cool people in the different colored ProductCamp shirts?

Those awesome folks are ProductCamp volunteers!  If you have a question or concern, just track down one of our many volunteers and we will help you throughout the day!

Can you tell me more about the free childcare?

Picture
Children should be over the age of 2 but special accommodations may be made if they are younger.  We will need to know prior to the event if you are planning on using the childcare with Flexable by filling out the registration form.

Childcare is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and cannot be extended into the Google After Party.  Parents must remain in the same building (Tepper Quad) as their children at all times.

What is the age limit for childcare?
We take care of children ages 2-18, unless other accommodations have been made to take care of children under the age of two.

Can Flexable care for sick children?
  • Children with nausea, fever, a contagious condition or a medical condition requiring medication will not be admitted to the playroom. Contagious conditions include fever, rash associated with impetigo or chicken pox, pink eye, head lice, and ringworm.
  • Flexable Certified Caregivers will not administer medication.  If a child does require medication or medical attention, a staff member will immediately contact the parent or emergency contact.

Do you offer a lactation room?
  • Yes, if you need access to a lactation room please come to the main registration desk and ask for the key which we will happily provide you.
Please see all Flexable's website for more information regarding childcare.

We also suggest you get your seat early for the opening keynote, as space is limited.

How does on-site voting work?

Attendees will receive 3 ‘dots’ to use for voting the morning of ProductCamp at Check-In.

Just place a dot on any session posted on the session grid that you plan on attending.

The voting helps us allocate appropriate times and rooms for each session.

Anyone interested in posting a topic for consideration should arrive early and post their topic before voting starts at 8:45 am.

Google After Party

The Google Party has a max capacity of 125 people in their Bakery Square office & a wristband is required.

The Google After Party was available to the first 125 pre-registered attendees through Eventbrite and you must have it on your ticket to get a wristband to enter.

Transportation
W.L. Roengik will provide a school bus for continuous shuttle service between the TQ and Google from 4-8 p.m.
Pick Up and Drop Off will be at the Forbes Avenue cut-in by the Level 1 entrance.

What hashtag can I use to share on social?

If you are on the wonderful world of Twitter, Instagram, or Linkedin why not tweet about us? #pghpcamp

What are the unconference principles?

  • Whoever comes are the right people.
  • Whatever happens is the only thing that could have (happened?).
  • Whenever it starts is the right time.
  • When it is over it is over.

The Law of the Two Feet:

Anyone finds her or himself in a situation where they are neither learning nor contributing, they can use their two feet to go to a more productive place. This law is important as it emphasizes that every participant is present voluntarily.

Where is the career fair?

The Career Fair is in the Sponsor area on the 2nd floor Atrium.  All companies participating in the Career Fair will be marked with a balloon indicating that they are currently hiring. If you opted to share your information with them in the registration form it will be shared with them.

What do I need to know about photography/video?

Photograph Permission Announcement: Video will be recorded and/or photographs at this event.  Please inform the camera operator/photographer if you do not want them to video/photograph you.  By participating in this event,  you are giving permission for ProductCamp Pittsburgh to take photographs and/or video of you and to use the photographs/video containing your image, voice, or likeness for educational and promotional purposes.  Such uses include use in publications, websites, advertising, fundraising, and other marketing communications materials.   You understand and agree that you will have no rights to the photographs/video taken of you during this event.
